I paint colours. I have reduced painting to its very essence — and for me, that essence is colour itself. In my work, colour is not merely a visual element, but the subject in its own right. I explore mental, imagined, and remembered colours: hues that carry emotional and spiritual weight, colours recalled from nature, and those drawn from the history of painting, particularly the symbolic, coded colours of the Middle Ages. I translate these visions into physical form through a meticulous collage technique. My work references the traditions of oil painting, but instead of paint, I use precisely cut, single-colour fragments from printed magazines, arranging them like brushstrokes into rhythmic fields of light, interwoven with variations in colour temperature and saturation. Each fragment is chosen and placed in relation to its neighbouring pieces, creating a balanced yet dynamic composition. Through this slow, deliberate process, I reveal the mental colour — once visible only in the mind — as a tangible, physical painting.
